The Five Themes Of Geography

To remember the five themes of geography, you should remember M.R.HE.L.P;

Movement~how people, ideas, and goods travel from one place to another
Region~how a place is organized
Human Environment interaction~How we get along with the environment
Location~answer the question 'where?' and can be absolute or relevant
Place~answers the question 'what?' what it's like

I will give an example of each from the book (Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe)

Movement-In the book, when missionaries came to the village to convert them into Christians (pg. 148 onwards)

Region-The way Ezeudu's funeral was organized (pg. 120 onward)

Human Environment Interaction-the people of Umuofia and other villages drink palm wine which relates to the environment because they got it from the Earth (pg. 147)

Location-Umuofia, in Africa (pg. 3 onwards)

Place-very dry and funerals are very different, many different wives for one man (pg.120, 71, 89)

You explained it all well, everything was accurate and precise. Though I think that you need more things in Place. As it answers the question what?, it should have more things that make it unique. The things that you wrote down could have applied for other villages as well. Maybe you could have put things like the way they grew their crops, etc.

I agree with your statement about movement and I wrote something similar. Obviously Christianity is an idea that moved to Africa from somewhere else. Also, the people and the bicycles were new to Africa, and had moved there. I don't understand what made Ezeudu's funeral an example or region, and I think it seems more like an example of place. I agree with your HEI because they tap the palm trees for the palm wine. Obviously they are in Umuofia, and in Africa, and your reasons for place are similar to mine.

Farah,
In reference to your example of region, I don't understand how Ezeudu's funeral fits. Your H/E Interaction example was good, I didn't draw that connection before.
On the whole good job, your examples are very relevant and important.
